camera withdrawal

oh my goodness, i didn't know one could be addicted to one's camera. I've been camera-less for a week now... i thought my battery had finally charged it's last charge, what with it being the original battery and about 4.5 or 5 years old. So we ordered a new battery, and put it in. I noticed that it only indicated to be about half charged, but it did have a note that said it would reach full capacity after being charged and used 3x. then it died too. I then realized that the batteries weren't at fault, it was the part of the camera that recharges the batteries that wasn't working. So what I needed was a seperate battery charger. Ugh. I could get a charger here in town for $45. Or I could order a charger and spare battery online for $16, including shipping. So, I ordered it. And had to wait for it.

Anyway, it came yesterday morning so i charged the batteries and had my camera to take pictures of costumes.


However you aren't going to get costume pictures yet, cause I haven't downloaded and cropped them.

I was looking through my online photo archive (photobucket) to find pictures of an old yarn colorway for a customer, and found these.
A friend stopped me at church Wednesday night to look at Jonny and commented, " You just make them all the same, don't you?" I joked backed something anout not changing a winning recipe, but I do think she has a point.

Jonny is learning how to get his grin on.

Jonny Jumbo

Jeff calls the baby "Little Jonny Jumbo"... apparently he's correct. We had Jonny's 1 month check up yesterday. On September 17th, he had a check up and was 9 lbs 9 oz (not quite back up to birth weight). Yesterday, October 8th, he was 10 lbs and 12 oz. And that was all Jonny. He had done a great job of filling a dipe right as we were leaving for the Dr. Every time I do the figures they come up slightly different (math, me, and new mommy brain, not a good mix), but it is something like 20 oz in 21 days. That's a lot.

This is of Jonny and Great-Papa. We took Jonny up to meet him the other weekend.

Ok, story behind the face painting.. we got there right after the "real" face painter went on break. only we didn't know this. I thought it was unusual that the face painter was a 11 year old kid.. but ok. Jessi's is alright... Joey, well he was *supposed to look like a carved pumpkin... thus the black "holes"... but then the kid surrounded it with orange. wow. a multi-colored ghoul. Then... he added green blobs that were leaves. at least that is what he said. Anyway, we let the paint stay on long enough to take a picture and then off it came. seriously... I'm not sure if that is funny or scary.

Story here... we thought it would be cute to get a picture of Joy smelling the bank of flowers, so we told her to smell them. It took a few tries so we had to have her smell them a couple times... this made Joey very curious and he decided to see what all the fuss was about.
Joey ended up rather confused because the flowers "didn't smell so great anyway."

Mary Ellen... I thought of you when I was trying to get a shot of Jessi... she has somehow learned about posing... you should have seen the poses I nixed before letting her go with this one. sigh.

So I've been rather open about my disgruntled-ness over the choices this year for the presidential race. I don't like either of them. There I said it again. I'm the last conservative hold-out to jump on the Palin-wagon and I don't plan on jumping any time soon.

But you know what makes me REALLY crazy? And to be honest, it's from both sides. No one party has the corner on the market for seeing things one-sided, but good grief Charlie Brown, my eyes are getting dizzy from rolling too much.

This latest trick of McCain's... The American public is on tenterhooks waiting for the debates so we can actually get something besides a soundbite about where these guys supposedly stand on the issues. Now, in an attempt to get free publicity, McCain is pulling a "take my ball and go home" that is thinly veiled as a heroic action of saving the economy. Dude, I haven't seen my glasses for months and I can see right through that.

Now I keep seeing criticism that Obama doesn't care because he wasn't willing to follow McCain's lead. Personally, I think his answer that the future president has to be able to multi-task was a pretty good reply.
I've seen criticism that he is overstepping by not coming until President Bush asked him to. Personally, I think that following an opponent's directions would have been politically very stupid. There was nothing wrong with him attending the meeting as requested by the President (you know, the actual, current, president) and everything wrong with him doing so just because McCain said to.

I keep seeing all this glory, laud, and honor for McCain for "pushing for action". Hmph. From what I read, his statement said nothing about actual action being accomplished, merely that he, Obama, and the White house had to agree on something. No clause about him sitting out and "doing real work" until something is actually passed and put into place. He's just posturing to gain attention as the great bi-partisan mediator, but in reality, it's talk. He can't breeze into Washington and actually FIX anything.

Now before you think I have gone too far in decrying our noble candidate, let me say, it WAS a very clever move... it got him lots of publicity, it backed Obama into a corner, it got people talking. However, that is all it was, a political move. Depending on how it affects the debates, it very well may backfire. Don't get me wrong, I'd be just as perturbed if Obama had done it... and I'm willing to bet my morning coffee that so would all the folks calling McCain "visionary" for his "bold move."

And don't get me started on this whole "bailout."
